Learning Outcomes of the Course : Explains basic concepts in pragmatics.
Discusses the role of social and cultural context in pragmatics.
Learns the principal concepts of sociolinguistics.
Demonstrates awareness of ´social and regional dialect´.
Understands how different varietiesand features of language spread, change or disappear

Aim(s) of Course : This course focuses on the study of language in historical and social contexts, language change, language families and areas, writing systems.

Course Contents : The topics to be covered include Scociolinguistics, Pragmatics, Language History and Change, Writing systems.
