Critically assesses the role of states, international and regional actors in the development of international human rights regime. Explains and evaluate the major international human rights issues. Analyses the major challenges concerning the implementation of international human rights standards.

This course aims to focus on the key issues and institutions of international human rights regime in contemporary world politics. |

Course Contents |
: |
The course begins with an overview of the international human rights regime through an exploration of its historical and institutional foundations. It explores the development of human rights mechanisms within the United Nations and the role of regional institutions in the Americas, Africa and Europe. The second part of the course attempts to elaborate on the key international human rights topics, such as equality and non-discrimination, the right to life, freedom of expression, and group rights. |
