Learning Outcomes of the Course : Knows Aristotelian doctrine of being and its extension in sciences
Learns the historical adventures of peripatetical understanding of being in Ancient, medieval and New Ages systematically.
Learns how this paradigm forms the apprehension of God´s being in the religious texts.

Aim(s) of Course : The aim of this course is to analyze several approaches of the concept of being in peripatetism started by Aristotle, and reaching to Heidegger through philosophers, systems, and religions.

Course Contents : Meaning of the words ´being´ and ´essence´, Aristotle´s opinion of being and his outlook on the universe; Islamic philosopher´s opinions of being, forming the opinion of God, the universe and human being through Descartes, Locke, Hume, Kant and Heidegger´s opinion of being.
