Learning Outcomes of the Course : Describes the basic features of religious education in madrasas .
Distinguishes legal education along with religious education in madrasas .
Evaluates the developments in the field of religious education in schools which were established after the Tanzimat.
Compares the developments in the higher religious education after the Tanzimat.
Evaluates the rehabilitation of madrasas after the Tanzimat from the perspective of religious education.
Describes the developments in understanding and practices of religious education in the Republican period .

Aim(s) of Course : The aim of the course is to examine the historical process of Islamic Turkish education from the period of madrasah to our present day.

Course Contents : The course covers the issues such as the quality of religious education in madrasas since they were founded, the quality and historical process of religious education in the modernization period in education which began after the Tanzimat and Republic period.
