Learning Outcomes of the Course : Comprehends the relationship between concepts of human and religious belief.
Distinguishes between the concepts of belief and faith.
Evaluates belief and disbelief psychologically.
Knows the formation process of belief and disbelief.
Knows the concepts of religious and religiosity.
Knows religious and religiosity typologies.
Becomes aware of the current atheistic tendencies.
Discusses the psychological causes of atheistic tendencies.

Aim(s) of Course : The aim of the course is to enable the students to learn the psychological sources of belief and disbelief, faith development theories and theories which explain disbelief.

Course Contents : The course covers defining the concepts of faith and belief, doubt and disbelief, faith development theories such as cognitive theories, Jung´s analytical theory, Ericson´s psychosocial development theory, social learning theories, existentialist theories, eclectic theories and the theories like classical psychoanalytic theory, cognitive theories, social learning theories, existentialist theories, Marxist theory, eclectic theories which explain disbelief..
