Analyzes Islamic sects according to their mental attitudes Knows methods and techniques used in the field of History of Islamic Sects Explains the concept of sect, and emphasizes the differences between political-creedal and jurisprudence sects Defines the basic concepts and terms of History of Islamic Sects
Identifies the factors that led to the rise of History of Islamic Sects Knows Islamic sects as Kharijiyya, Murjia, Mutazila and Shia in terms of their emergence, historical background, principal doctrines and literature Explains the position of the Islamic sects within the larger frame of Islamic thought

Having knowledge about the nature of the political-creedal sects that rose in the early years of Islam as well as about the general characteristics of the conception of religion within which these sect are founded, and gaining skills of analysis, interpretation and comparison within the field |

Sectarian typologies according to their mindsets; the earliest sects in the history of Islamic thought; the reasons behind the rise of sects, their important figures, historical backgrounds, principal doctrines, sub-groups, the regions into which they are spread, their literature, contribution to Islamic thought and manifestations in today’s world |
