Learning Outcomes of the Course : Identifies semantic characteristics particular to languages.
Evaluates sense-relations based on paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations.
Identifies semantic relations.
Defines, classifies and distinguishes the types of meaning.
Discusses Saussure´s indicator model and Ogden and Richards´s triangle of the semiotic elements acting upon the definition of the word.
Distinguishes meaning from concept.

Aim(s) of Course : The aim of this course is to investigate semantic characteristics of languages, to deal with the paradigmatic and syntagmatic relation from linguistic perspective, help the students to identify semantic relations as described by linguists.

Course Contents : The contents of this course include teaching about meaning, meaning of expression, meaning of utterance, sociological meaning, logical and semantic relations , semantic features and communicative dimension of meaning.
