The aim of this course is to inform students about the features of the basic concepts of linguistics, their approaches to language, the people who directed linguistics and their works, the size and the use of descriptive language. |

Course Contents |
: |
The contents of this course include the concept of linguistics and the basic concepts of linguistics; Saussure and structuralism,; Europe (Prague school of linguistics), and American structuralism, theories of speech-act, introduction to different fields such as semiotics in language research; approaches to important personalities guiding linguistic work (Martinet, Bloomfield, Harris, Hjelmslev, Chomsky, and so on.) and their studies; descriptive analysis of the pragmatic dimension a language as well as its descriptive use. |
